Sweet Sweet Roses

Sweet Sweet Roses

Sweet sweet roses abound in bunches at bodegas around Manhattan but this glorious array of roses caught my eye. The palette of pinks and purples is the perfect combination of color for summertime arrangements.

Lucy’s Whey

Lucy’s Whey

From L’Amuse Aged Gouda to Cabot Clothbound Cheddar and Vintage Cheese Co.’s Mountina all of the cheeses in Lucy’s Whey are formidable. Her shop is in East Hampton and the very casual space houses everything from tomato marmalade to small batch vermicelli produced in Italy. Lucy herself picks every item in her shop. Right now she’s loving pickled carrots and asparagus from Eat This, roasted leek cookies from Savor, Jan’s Farmhouse Crisps and Fair Hands Honey and this amazing fish dip she’s just brought in from Montauk. She told me that there’s a waiting list for it. They sell out before she’s able to put it in the fridge for sale.

Acres of Flowers

Acres of Flowers

Marder’s Gardening Center in Bridgehampton is one of the most spectacular places. You can wander through acres of flowers and trees and the family owned business sells their own line of outdoor furniture as well. The hidden gem of the property is their boutique which sells a beautiful curation of home and gardening books, Cire Troudon candles, handmade soaps, all of your gardening necessities and fresh picked flowers that they will arrange for you. This is my spot to shop in when I need to bring a bouquet to a dinner party.

Susanne Kaufmann

Susanne Kaufmann

Susanne Kaufmann makes a botanical line from Austria that I adore and Aedes De Venustas carries such a nice breadth of her line. Without a doubt one of my favorite shops in New York City is Aedes De Venustas. Tucked away on Christopher Street in the West Village this store is the epitome of elegance. They carry the best of the best when it comes to home fragrance, candles, essential oils, perfumes and skincare. The scents of sage, chamomile, honey blossom, marigold and rose are present in her botanical line. I love her body oils, exfoliators and moisturizers and they are all chemical free. Also how smart is the little rubber hook that she attaches on her oils so you can hang them in the shower? You can buy her items here http://www.aedes.com/Susanne-Kaufmann_c_244.html

Spending Time

Spending Time

In my very fantastic but frenetic schedule my husband and I rarely meet a couple that we both stop and think, we really enjoy spending time with them. Over the years a few have made their mark and I have to say Michelle and Peter Farmer are tops on that list. Our daughter loves their dogs Bear and Wiley, my husband and Peter talk about travel and business and Michelle and I yammer on about just about everything. I have enormous respect for her. She’s built a chic budding business (more exciting news to come from her on that front) and her namesake shop in Bridgehampton is my go to boutique for summertime dresses.
